Policies

School Hours

School begins at 8:35 am and dismissal time is 3:00 pm; except for Wednesdays. On Wednesday of each week, we dismiss at 2:00 pm. Students who arrive after 8:45 am are tardy. Students are expected to leave campus promptly when school is over. Arrangements should be made ahead of time if a student is to stay for activities. Late pick-ups: Children who are not picked up within 15 minutes of dismissal will be brought into the building. Parents will need to enter the building and sign their child out from the office with a picture ID.

If it is necessary for your child to leave early during the school day, please come to the front office to complete our sign-out roster. Attendance and Tardies

It is extremely important for your child to be at school every day, on time. Students that are not inside their classroom by 8:45 am are tardy. Adults that drop students off that arrive after 8:45 am will be required to park and come inside the office to sign their child in. If your child is absent due to illness, make sure to send a note with them upon their return.

Change of Address or Telephone Number

We cannot stress enough the importance of having a telephone number where parents may be reached. It is CRITICAL that we are able to reach you if there ever were to be an emergency. Parents are requested to submit to the office any change of address or telephone numbers. School zones are enforced by Federal Court Order. Students must attend the school within their assigned zone. If your new residence is not Orange County, your child must be withdrawn immediately and registered at their corresponding school.

Transportation Changes

Please send the teacher a written note and call the front office if you change your child's method of transportation. The teacher will NOT allow the student to alter the normal routine without this note.

Dismissal

If your child is a car rider, the adult picking up must have an official car tag. If not, the person picking up will be required to park and show ID in the office, and sign the child out. Pick up is required by 3:20 pm. Students not picked up by 3:20 pm will have to be signed out in the office.

Inclement Weather

If it is raining and their is no presence of lighting, students WILL be dismissed. IF THERE IS PRESENCE OF LIGHTNING DURING DISMISSAL, IT WILL BE DELAYED BY 30 MINUTES AFTER THE LAST LIGHTNING STRIKE. IF YOU WISH TO PICK UP YOUR CHILD, YOU ARE WELCOME TO DO SO. YOU MUST BRING A PICTURE ID FOR CHECKOUT.

Student Dress

Please do not wear tank/halter tops, short shorts, see through shirts, muscle shirts, or backless sandals. No stomachs should be showing; even when the arms are raised above the head. Clothing advertising alcoholic beverages, cigarettes, or those with obscene, gang-related, or questionable printing will not be permitted. Shoes must be worn at all times and be suitable for physical education activities. Lost and Found items will be collected in the cafeteria.

Discipline and Student Conduct

Each student is expected to behave so that he/she will not interfere with the educational opportunities of classmates. Parents share a major responsibility for their child's conduct. WE may request that you come to school if your child has a discipline problem that requires your help. The Orange County Code of Student Conduct is available at ocps.net. Please read and discuss this code with your child. This Code of Student Conduct tells you about student rights and about the rules you must follow as a student.

Lice

Medicated shampoo must be used, and all nits removed before a child can return to school. Before returning to the classroom, the child must be checked by the clinic nurse or school designee. Please accompany your child to the school clinic when returning to school. The district policy states that students will only be excused up to 4 days when diagnosed with lice.

Parties

Classes may have two parties during the school year where parents may bring only store bought food items. These are scheduled before the winter holidays and at the end of the school year. No other parties are permitted. Birthday treats may be sent to the school and served as dessert after lunch. ALL FOOD MUST COME SEALED AND FROM A PRIVATE GROCERY/VENDOR. FOOD MADE AT HOME MAY NOT BE SERVED.
